Hybrid floating photovoltaic (FPV) and aeration system

In 2020, a pioneering hybrid system for lake purification was implemented at Lake Ak-Gel in Makhachkala.

The 8 kWp floating photovoltaic (FPV) system provides renewable electricity to a water aeration system, aiding in lake restoration and oxygenation.

The project demonstrated the structural stability and operational efficiency of a small-scale FPV system under moderate wind and wave conditions, while consistently powering aeration processes.

This innovative approach integrates floating photovoltaic panels with an aeration system, presenting a novel method to tackle the lake's significant ecological issues. The 8 kWp system is engineered to enhance water quality by utilizing renewable energy to support aeration, offering a sustainable solution for lake restoration.

  • Maximum wind speed: 150 km/h

  • Maximum wave height: 0.5 m

  • Application: Freshwater lake, ecological remediation context

The system was decommissioned in 2021.
